I'm tired of paying the ridiculous property taxes here while sending my kids to private school because the quality of our local school is just not good enough. local public school system is terrible.
Also... while our neighborhood is ok, it's all older people. There's no one for our boys to spend time with really, outside of school.
We work in West Philadelphia, my wife and I, and I'm hoping that maybe moving to DE would help. She's on the soutwest side for her job, mine is more westerly. Does anyone have any advice that could help?
What is public transportation like?

I make a similar commute every day. I live in Wedgewood, and take 13 up to 495, then into 95. It's about an hour drive for me... traffic isn't the best, but it could be a lot worse!
Pretty much anywhere in New Castle County is going to be pretty nice, probably a lot better than what you think of Philly

There's plenty to find in any of the areas you're looking at. My cousin works in Appoquinmink school district and so she's hardly unbiased, but she only has good things to say about it. Definitely you should check it out.
