We're looking at a possible move to Lima with our same company (division transfer). What should I know about it? I've been hearing some bad rumors, should I be looking for other options?

Lima itself has a nice downtown that's surrounded by some areas that are having a bit more trouble. Were the rumors you heard about drug use? There's been some trouble with drugs moving through the city, from Detroit the police claim. If you stay out of the seedier parts, it is a pretty city, with some lovely historical buildings and wonderful hospitals.
Lima has plenty of restaurants, but chains and otherwise, and decent shopping available.
For living, Lima isn't bad, but I would reocmmend looking nearby, if you're concerned about crime. Wapakoneta is a nice option, as is Shawnee.

mervillous really covered most of what there was! Shawnee is a good option if you have children who you want to be sure end up in a good school district. Otherwise you should be fine if you want to live in Lima, just spend some time looking over the neighborhoods, some aren't so good.

I wouldn't live in Lima. The drug problem and the crime with it aren't new, theyve' been going on for generations now. there's really parts of the city where the gangs are in control and it's not safe. They're pretty obvious, it's safe to go to the city for shopping and such, but you should still just stay out for finding a home. Shawnee and Wapakoneta are both good. Also, look at Delphos, Ada, Elida, and Kenton if you have time.

I've lived in Lima all my life, and there's plenty of safe areas good to live in. But if you want to live in a small town, none of those are bad.
