We're from Missouri, and know next to nothing about Oklahoma. Could anyone give us advice on Blackwell? Or nearby cities that would be good to live in? I just receieved a job offer that is in Blackwell, and it's very tempting to take it. It would be me and my husband, no children. He would be looking for a job there, at least something part time, while he works on getting his art studio set up. I'm hoping there's someplace with some nice activities for couples available, we both enjoy light sports too.

For Blackwater, you might be best moving to Ponca, it's a bit larger although still quite small. You'll find a few brand stores and such, some of them decent size, as well as a cozy town atmosphere. You may still find yourself headed to Wichita or Tulsa to do any serious shopping.
I'd recommend avoiding southwestern Ponca, and sticking more to the area near Marlan Maansion.

Thank you for the information... how far are all of these from each other?

no more than a ten to fiften minute drive, from Ponca to Blackwell (or vice versa).
Ponca is about seventy miles to either Tulsa or Wichita. It's also about ninety five miles to Oklahoma City. All three are fairly easy drives that take some time but are no problem for a day trip on the weekend.
Blackwell itself is fair sized, but smaller than Ponca. If you might be expecting children, you'll want to either look at the schools in either, or consider home schooling, as many in the area do. I believe the school in Ponca may be higher rated than the one in Blackwell, but the one in Blackwell is definitely offering nice small class sizes.
If schooling is no issue, it's an easy drive from one to the other, you should visit both and see which one is more pleasant for you. Blackwell is very small town, Ponca at least has a large WalMart and other shopping, even a reasonable hospital and some things to do for culture.
