Located 12 miles northwest of Orlando and encompassing an area slightly larger than 30 square miles, the city of Apopka has a population of more than 31,000 residents. In the early 1900’s ferns became a core industry for Apopka, which soon garnered the nickname “Fern City.” Additional tropical plants were introduced by growers in the area and soon the city became known as the “Indoor Foliage Capital of the World.”
