Fernley is a growing community of approximately 15,000 people with surrounding agricultural spaces. Fernley became a City on July 1st, 2001. Our first City election was held in 2003. The City of Fernley is located in Lyon County and governed under Nevada Statutes. The Fernley City Council governs the activities of the Fernley Utility which provides a municipal water system and waste water treatment system (sewer). A Volunteer Fire Department with full-time paramedics on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. A Sheriff Substation is provided by the County. We now boast our own Municipal Court. Development issues are presented to the Planning Commission for approval. The community has 4 public schools, 2 pre-schools and various churches.
