The most prominent and popular lake in South Minneapolis, Nokomis is situated right on the Grand Rounds Trail on the leg of Minnehaha Creek just west of the Falls. This lake typifies the lakes throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul that are popular courses for hikers of all ages and abilities. Besides its paved walkways and spacious grassy areas, Nokomis offers hikers a tree-lined promenade along most of its shoreline. Several areas are reverting back to more natural states, providing hikers with a hint what wilder lakes are like outside the limits of the city....
